Q&A: How can I be sure to get the best auto loan rate without lowering my credit score?

Question by Lost in Texas: How can I be sure to get the best auto loan rate without lowering my credit score?
I am about to purchase a new vehicle and I have checked my credit score and applied for a loan through my bank. They offered me 4.25%. My embossed mentioned I should go through the base credit union because they have better rates, but is it likely that I would since my score is what determines the rate? And I’m worried about trying too many places, because that will just lower my score.

Go to the credit union. They have rates as low as 2.99% – worth it.An inquiry affects your rating only by 1 or 2 point. It only affect your fico score for 1 year, even though it shows up for 2And.. all inquiries done in a 3 week window are treated as one. This is to allow the customer to shop around for a good rate/loan

Yes, you shouldn’t have any problems.Technically 760+ would be considered “the best” and 800+ is perfect, but I doubt the rates for car loans will very much for a score as luxuriously as yours…especially if you use a credit union (hint..hint).

Range for this score seems to be 10.75% to 18.75% for on-line cite but they require a minimum of 20%-50% down or $ 3,800 to $ 9,500. This will differ based on your location.

Question by XD_JDOL: What does my credit score need to be to get competitive mortgage and auto loan rates?
Is there a magic number? Is it 650? 750? What should I use as my benchmark for being ready to apply for financing? I’ve done a lot to repair my formerly blemished credit history and would like to know when I should feel confident again.

My score is highest on Equifax 704, but on my Transunion it is a 620. I know in order to get approved and get a good rate my score needs to be high. Are there any companies that only look at one credit report?

My bad credit has me trapped in an auto loan help?

chrls_bann88 asked:

My score is 480 yes oucH I fucked up in college and well it has actually gone up since I’ve been paying shit off etC and I got an auto loan for 18000 for a car worth 13000 maybe I’m dumb but it costs that much because my interest rate is out of this worlD. So it turns out the car is not even worth 13000 more like 10K and now I’m stuck with it. Ill probably keep it for 7 – 9 months to build up mycredit, do u think ill be able to refinance after that time, what do I do if I want to trade the car in and get a better one. I feel trapped because my credit is so bad

With my current history, will an auto loan score me a decent used car?

justellemJimsaidhello asked:

I am 26 years old, have a very poor score (which has increased btw), from 430 to 507 in a matter of just a few months. I had a repo in November 2005, but it is paid off since and listed on my credit report as a charge-off but also as “paid”, (which I did). I do not see it as repo on the report and is now currently marked in a green box for the latest month as “OK”. I earn 35,000 gross annual and have been at my job since Sept. 06 now. I would like to put down 1,000 dollars on a certified used vehicle for somewhere under 9,000 or 10 at the most. However, the only way I can do it is with an auto loan. If I apply for one at the car mall and receive it, will this cover everything? What would my interest rate be? (Ball park figure). Thank you.

Auto Loan Refinance Question?

skiairplane asked:

My credit union approved me to refinance my vehicle for 3 years at 2.9% for a max of $25, 750.00. I owe $29,000.00. I will have to come up with the difference of $4000.00 which I only have $1000.00 of. I can take it off of one of my cards at 0% interest till 2010 and pay it off in 3 months. My question is is that wise? My current rate is 7.9% on the vehicle. When I bought it a year ago my score was much lower then it is now. Any thoughts?
