Need help with a Bad Credit Auto Loan?

I’ve worked at my job about 10 months, rented for about 1 year 2 months, and make about 1500 a month gross. My credit has been awful since June when I stopped paying on about 8 different credit cards. So it’s definately rated at BAD.

Yes, the dealership is finding the lender. My previous lender was Chrysler and they will only finance Chrysler vehicles so I can’t go through them. The dealership actually told me that several banks flat out denied me. I have a copy of my credit report and it’s not all that bad. I’m going to call the credit union today.

Should I pay down my principal balance on my auto loan with my credit card?

I have an auto loan at 16% (I know a little high but when I got it my credit wasn’t as good as it is now) and I have a credit card that has an intro balance transfer rate (which includes just them writing a check to someone) for 6 months and after that ana interest rate of 12% which is still lower than my car rate — I don’t have enough available credit on the card to pay it off but was going to pay about $2000 in a principal payment I still owe in the high $13K on my auto loan…..Ieaving about $11K on my auto loan….I pay my credit card bill on time and pay between $300-$500 a month on the card so I pay well over the min payment amount….Is this a good idea — I’m just trying to get my principal down cause it’s not going down by much with the interest rate being 16% —- also a refi is not an option as I owe more than the car is worth
Thank You I will not use my credit card to do this — I’ll just try and make more the the monthly payment to my card

How does someone with no credit get an auto loan?

I am 17 and I am looking to get my own car in a few months time, after I have some paychecks from work saved up. I make about $400 a week and I want to have a good chunk to put down on a car that is probably going to cost me between $9,000 and $13,000 (thats my price range, anyway)

my mom says that without credit, I’m either going to have an interest rate that’s ridiculously high, or they will refuse to do one without a co-signer all together.

Would it be wisest to have my parents apply for the auto loan themselves? (my mom has excellent credit), and then pay my parents the monthly payment?

I just pulled my yearly credit report and my score is 648. A year ago I think it was 540, so it’s jumped up quite a bit. I’m considering getting a newer used car (Mini Cooper or VW Bug) next spring once I have enough saved up for a small down payment.

I’m curious as to what kind of an interest rate I might be looking at and how much of a loan I could receive. Granted I’d rather get a new car, but getting a loan on a $19,000 car with mediocre credit probably isn’t the smartest bet. This will be my first car and I want something that’ll last me for a bit.
